Reader if you’re anything like me and want to know right away, “What’s this email about?”— (I see you 3s, 7s, and 8s) It’s about Tyler Zach’s EnneaSummit at no cost! The focus is on Spiritual Formation, and I’m sharing this because I KNOW it will be SO GOOD.

How do I know? Because the lineup features so many of the resources I already use with my clients (like Marilyn Vancil), people I’ve learned from personally (like Pastor Adam Breckenridge, and he’s giving away a free bonus!), and teachers I’ve sat under (like Amie Patrick from Crosspoint Ministry or Dan Allender in his class on the Book of Job). Not to mention names I’ve come to trust through my certification with Your Enneagram Coach (like Beth McCord). Oh, and my very own spiritual director was credentialed alongside the Gaultiers! I’m also looking forward to Chuck DeGroat, whose book Narcissism in the Church I just finished in December (not realizing until I read the book he uses the Enneagram).

Boom and boom. 😊.

Now for all you other Types who want to read more.

One of the questions I’m most frequently asked is, "What is Enneagram Coaching?" and my usual response is: “It’s a mashup of Spiritual Formation/Direction and Life Coaching through the lens of the Enneagram.”

Recently, JR Biggs (I’ve read a couple of his books) released a short, 15-minute podcast explaining the differences between counseling, coaching, spiritual formation, and more. It’s a quick listen and super helpful—you can catch it here.

While I first developed an interest in theology (the study of God) over 12 years ago at Portland Bible College, it wasn’t until 2019 that I was introduced to the Enneagram, followed by coaching in 2020. My journey into spiritual formation deepened in 2022 when I completed the Coaching for Spiritual Formation course through the Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI). It was there that I first read The Critical Journey by Janet Hagberg and Robert Guelich, which helped me understand why I felt the way I did—I was in The Wall. PCCI highlights the distinction between spiritual direction and coaching in this way:

“Spiritual directors are ‘established’ in understanding the ways and seeking the face of God; coaches do not necessarily have an expertise in the client’s area of focus. Spiritual direction can sometimes be directive; coaching is always non-directive. Spiritual direction is about being with God; coaching is about doing and designing actions. While there are other distinctions, these are the most marked.”

For more indepth read, this article by Grayson Wallon on WHEN TO SEE A LIFE COACH, SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR OR PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR is excellent.

hrough years of studying the Enneagram, theology, and coaching, I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible authors, speakers, and teachers—whether in the classroom, through podcasts, or from their books. Tyler Zach, whom I met when we were both guests on the Your Enneagram Coach Podcast, is bringing nearly all of them together for his EnneaSummit this February.

So yes, I’ll be registering for his summit as it's a topic I am passion about—and I’d love for you to join me!

🎟️ Click here to claim your no-cost ticket for the EnneaSummit today!

🎥 A FREE 60-minute Enneagram Crash Course

And to sweeten the deal - I’m serious about wanting to hear what you think, so if there’s a particular session from the EnneaSummit that feels especially significant to you, I would be honored to coach you through it with a gift of a no-cost coaching session. Why? Because I firmly believe that information brings understanding (which is good), but transformation comes with coaching (which is growth).

I can’t wait to hear from you after the EnneaSummit so we can schedule time to unpack what stood out to you personally! Let’s turn what you learn into something truly meaningful for your journey!

With you,

Linda Hannigan

January 2025 Illuminate Reader. Two massive topics to tackle in one series—Eve and wisdom. What was I thinking? I’m already realizing eight sessions are NOT going to cut it. When we studied Genesis last year, I planned for 12 sessions and ended up with 15. Now, before we’ve even started Women of Wisdom, I can already tell—eight sessions won’t be enough. After digging into the material these past few weeks, we clearly need more time to give these two topics the attention they deserve. So, it...

Illuminating Scripture for Women to beEncouraged, Equipped, and Engaged Reader I haven’t sent an email to the whole Illuminate community in a long time! The last email was in June letting the group know I’d be ghosting communication to focus on our son’s wedding. It was a lovely, perfect Portland, Oregon, August wedding day. The ceremony was beautiful (as was the bride), and the reception turned into a super fun party—which is exactly what they wanted: to celebrate WELL! So, here’s our family...

Findings, Sharings & Offerings Reader Happy first of the month and Canada Day! Yesterday, I sat down with one of my favorite practices: a monthly reflection from the Full Focus Planner. I spend about 30 minutes on this; I don’t overthink it and just write what comes to mind. I also keep my planner, photos on my phone, and Bible journal nearby to prompt my memory. It's been a very beneficial practice, and I’m always surprised by what surfaces. Over time, I’ve tweaked the questions to help me,...
