The Midwives Who Defied Pharaoh - A Free Women’s History Month Invitation

February 2026

Reader.

In my opinion, there’s no better place for Women's History Month than with the most ancient stories of women, found in Scripture.

Take Exodus, for example.

Before Moses ever stands before Pharaoh, two women are given a terrible command. Pharaoh orders the Hebrew midwives to destroy the Hebrew baby boys. Instead, Shiphrah and Puah refuse—an act that becomes the first resistance in the Exodus story and the beginning of Israel’s deliverance.

This month feels like the perfect time—and, as it turns out, it's the perfect topic—to open one of our Illuminate sessions and invite others to join us.

The Midwives Who Defied Pharaoh is part of our current Illuminate series, Born for Deliverance: Women of Exodus, where we’re exploring the women who appear in the Exodus story and the role they play in Israel’s rescue.

You’re welcome to join us on Monday evening as we explore these women.

What to Expect

• A live teaching on the story of Shiphrah and Puah

• Space to reflect on what surfaces for you as we move through the text

• A thoughtful hour studying Scripture together

All you’ll need is a journal and a pen for your reflections.

I’ll also be sharing the event on Facebook and Instagram, so feel free to pass it along if another woman comes to mind who might enjoy the conversation.

Iit’s been eight years since I first read The Road Back to You. February 2026 Reader. Here in Seattle Seahawks territory, it feels almost sacrilegious to send an email about a women’s study on Super Bowl Sunday. And for my Canadian friends and family, the start of the Winter Olympics is also a really big deal. So, between the two of these events, I’m honestly not sure how many of you will even open this email. Let me tell you about my first Super Bowl party… as a Canadian. We had only lived here three months, and I was nine months pregnant—on my due date,...
