Tyler Zach, who I met on a podcast in 2023 (Tyler is a 3w4 and I'm a 3w2) invited me to be a Story Spotlight guest for his upcoming Type'ish Spiritual Formation EnneaSummit. I'll be talking about being an Enneagram 3 and needing to step back from "performing by serving" at church. still one I'm figuring out.

As his guest, even though we don't talk about it in the session, there's a spot in the show notes for a "freebie."

What it is, and how it came about

It's a new idea of mine, born from years of coaching so many of you!

You may know I've been working on the Enneagram Deepening Year - five years of coaching experience, what I've learned from all of you, combined with life coaching and spiritual formation tools into a once-a-month reflective guide and coaching journey.

Within those five years of coaching, I noticed the traditional Enneagram Levels of Health are informative, but they weren't creating much traction or growth. It finally dawned on me why. They're informative, but not memorable.

Then one day it came out of my mouth: the numbered levels are forgettable, but a word picture always helps. Flourishing, Functional, and Fractured. Suddenly things made a lot more sense.

But then I thought about my studies on metaphors. Our brains process metaphor differently than plain description, turning an idea into something we can actually feel or picture. That's part of why it sticks. So I mashed metaphors with this new take on the levels of health, and here it is! A much more personal, useful way to notice where you actually are. I've simplified the Enneagram Deepening Year Guide Sheet for this freebie, but I'm sure you'll still get something out of it.
